Say It Sad, previewed days ago on Son Of Marketing, is the new single by Le Marina taken from the EP Libera, to be released on May 8, 2020 by the English label The Sound Of Everything.
The minimalist sound of Le Marina has been defined as future trip hop, influenced by the historic scene of Bristol captained by Massive Attacks and by the way similar to the contemporary nu-R&B of FKA twigs or to the intimate electro-songwriting of Tirzah. A bipolar sound, which can be as romantic as it is macabre, depending on the point of view.
Libera was made entirely in London. Le Marina did everything in complete autonomy, including videoclips shot and edited by herself. The issues are those of psychic distress, depression and loneliness that one suddenly experiences living in a large cosmopolitan city to pursue a dream.
“Say It Sad, without fear of resulting pathetic or fragile. This song, as well as the related video, is difficult to tell. Through the video I show the things dearest to me, that kept me alive on this planet. I went through hard times, during which people tended to get away from me, describes as a complex and difficult person… or so they said so“.
