Sacrobosco releases new album “Dreamlike Places”, out now via Antinational Noise

Sacrobosco, the electronic music project by Giacomo Giunchedi, is ready to take you to his personal dream places with his new album, titled Dreamlike Places, out today February 13th on digital and limited-edition vinyl via Antinational Noise, the electronic and experimental music label he founded and manages, distributed by Audioglobe/The Orchard.

The Italian musician and producer, living in Bologna, recorded Dreamlike Places in his home studio and mixed it during the final stages with Davide Bombanella at Groundfloor Studios in Modena. The mastering was done in London at Transition Studios by Jason Goz, well known for his work with important international artists such as Burial, Actress, Massive Attack, and Flying Lotus.

Dreamlike Places, Sacrobosco’s fifth album, contains eight tracks recorded throughout 2025, based on reworkings of field recordings and created through granular synthesissampling of acoustic instruments, and the use of sound elements from YouTube.

The tracks offer microhousedowntempo and ambient sounds with a minimalist feel. Dancefloor-oriented moments alternate with cinematic expansions, urban influences, and nocturnal landscapes.

According to Sacrobosco: «The album was composed primarily at night, sometimes following nights spent listening to music at clubs like Freakout Club in Bologna. During the sessions, the feeling of being in another place and time emerged, a parallel dimension generated by the vibrations of the tracks. Initially, Dreamlike Places referred only to the track of the same name, but then it encompassed the entire work when choosing a title».

Lead single All I Long For was born from a sample taken from YouTube, featuring a girl singing the jazz standard Fly Me To The Moon. The vocals were processed using granular synthesis and blended with sound elements composed mainly on Ableton, reworking sounds from various sources.

So, Sacrobosco’s constellations unite the stars of Bologna, and those of the melting pot of London. The first track to be finalized for the work, Bleeding Sun, was inspired by the sounds heard at vinyl enthusiast events organized in his hometown by the collective Mint Sound, now Escape, while the title track, Dreamlike Places, written shortly thereafter, shows off field recordings captured by Giunchedi on the streets of London, including Brixton, Dalston, and Hackney. This also happens in the shadowy Day Eleven, where the vocals are derived from a sample of Monica’s song Like This And Like That.

Going deeper into Dreamlike Places, other brilliant and unexpected sound sources include, for example, an interview with Whitney Houston, sampled in the catchy and haunting opening track Subway Surfer, that includes also excerpts from Adele’s Set Fire To The Rain, or the reworking in Darksand of a sample of Madonna’s What It Feels Like For A Girl, enriched with fragments of various Urdu and Hindi pop songs. We live inside a dream, but who is the dreamer?
