Out today\u00a0May 15th, 2026<\/strong>\u00a0on CD and digital,\u00a0Da Capo<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0is the first real solo album by\u00a0Mario Evangelista<\/strong>, a musician, composer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist for twenty years, based in Florence, also active in the bands Pitchtorch and The Gutbuckets, as well as in the Collettivo Jambona – which has just released the tribute album\u00a0Noi, Piero<\/em>, dedicated to the great singer-songwriter Piero Ciampi – and as a producer for other international artists.<\/p>\n Evangelista wanted to start over (the album title\u00a0Da Capo<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0can in fact be translated as “From Scratch”), dedicating himself to composing an imaginary series of\u00a0sound paintings for acoustic guitar<\/strong>. Each of them represents a part of the many experiences collected in recent years,\u00a0between important recording studios, including Abbey Road Studios in London, and festivals,\u00a0and it’s the result of various stylistic contaminations.<\/p>\n After two records by his band\u00a0Pitchtorch<\/strong>\u00a0formed with Danilo Gallo from Guano Padano and Marco Biagiotti from The Vickers, the self-titled debut of 2019 and\u00a0I Can See The Light From Here<\/em>\u00a0of 2023, featuring Joachim Cooder (Ry’s son), Evangelista felt the need to return to a more\u00a0intimate dimension<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The album\u00a0Da Capo\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>is a collection of eight tracks, inspired by\u00a0Corsican and African, Mediterranean and Irish music<\/strong>, passing through the\u00a0blues<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The single\u00a0Diarabi<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0is a piece for kora, from the tradition of the Malian griots.\u00a0La plage en bas<\/em>\u00a0is the echo of the sea,\u00a0Magnolia<\/em>\u00a0is the memory of those who chose not to stay, \u00a0Abandon<\/em>\u00a0is exactly what it represents,\u00a0L’acqua cheta<\/em>\u00a0is amazing life that transforms itself,\u00a0Pitchtorch (reprise)\u00a0<\/em>is the essence of the band of the same name,\u00a0Recercare<\/em>\u00a0is carte blanche,\u00a0Sunday Morning Blues<\/em>\u00a0is 12-bar intolerance.<\/p>\n Evangelista played a Martin HD28, a wonderful Martin 00028 and a National Triolian,\u00a0the one shown on the cover artwork,\u00a0in addition to harmonium, synthesizers, Chase Bliss Audio Mood, and strange objects.\u00a0Everything was recorded, mixed and mastered by Antonio Castiello at Jambona Lab Studio in Livorno.<\/p>\n Da Capo<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0is the rediscovery of the power of the whisper in a world where everyone screams and details seem sadly destined to vanish.<\/p>\n
