There is a new, unidentified sound object on the horizon.\u00a0Its name is\u00a0Drone San<\/strong>, the project of\u00a0Nicola Pedroni\u00a0<\/strong>(musician and sound designer active for over fifteen years, also along many\u00a0European festivals) and\u00a0Andrea Sanna\u00a0<\/strong>(pianist and composer), at their first single together with\u00a0Ornamentalities<\/strong><\/em>, out today\u00a0October 22th, 2021\u00a0for\u00a0Horribly Loud Records<\/strong>, the label founded by themselves.<\/p>\n

Drone San is an\u00a0electronic music<\/strong>\u00a0project with acoustic\/electroacoustic incursions that fits in the contemporary post-jazz scene. It’s\u00a0post-jazz for post-humans<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Ornamentalities<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0is the first extract from the homonymous\u00a0debut album<\/strong>\u00a0Drone San<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>coming January 2022, accompanied by a silent book created by the illustrator\u00a0Yoshi Mari<\/strong><\/a>. The album was recorded in Sardinia, mainly during the summer period, between the walls of a studio, but also in the woods and even into the depths of the so-called domus de janas, typical prehistoric chamber tombs carved into the rock. Great Ancients and extraterrestrial creatures, the shadow of Cthulhu and the strange lights emanating from UFOs, go hand in hand in duo’s imagery, strongly influenced by\u00a0science fiction<\/strong>, starting with H.P. Lovecraft, and by post-apocalyptic but hopeful atmospheres.<\/p>\n

Ornamentalities\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>is a dark and obsessive track, characterized by odd and pulsating beats.\u00a0Its electro-symphonic crescendo leads to soundtrack territories.\u00a0The related abstract-alien\u00a0video<\/strong>, created in Los Angeles by the sound and media artist\u00a0Kai-Luen Liang<\/strong><\/a>, was obtained through generative manipulation techniques.<\/p>\n

Based between Cagliari and Florence, met by chance in a jazz club, Pedroni (drums, percussions, synths) and Sanna (piano, keyboards, synths) have entirely written, arranged, produced and played\u00a0Drone San<\/strong><\/em>, a blend of radical improvisation and real process of composition, of analog and digital instrumental textures, in a temporal clash between ancestrality and highly technological future.<\/p>\n
