R.Y.F.‘s music explodes on the dancefloor with Can I Can U feat. Skin (Samantha Togni remix), out today April 9th, 2025 on all digital platforms via Bronson Recordings with worldwide distribution by Universal Music Italy. The track is a tight techno reworking of one of the singles and key-tracks from her acclaimed album Deep Dark Blue.
DJ and producer Samantha Togni adds dynamite to an already overwhelming track thanks to the featuring of Skin (Skunk Anansie). This remix is not only a sonic detonation, but also a manifesto of strength, and inclusivity. Techno merges with the authenticity of these three artists, triggering a unique experience, where freedom is at the center of every beat. This is a new anthem for those who believe in music as a tool for change and acceptance, as well as in clubbing as a ground for revolution.
According to R.Y.F., the project of the Italian singer-songwriter and musician Francesca Morello: «The idea comes from Skin, who suggested a remix with an underground dirty club vibe. Samantha Togni is the resident DJ at GEGEN, a queer party created by some friends of mine in Berlin, which over the years has become a Mecca for European queer clubbing. This new collaboration brings together different worlds, even if not too far away, but above all starts from the sharing of common roots».
Deep Dark Blue, released in 2024, is a dark-queer, electro-punk, underwater album. Deep Dark Blue has been presented live in contexts such as Beaches Brew Festival and Transmissions Festival in Italy, at Cafe Oto in London, at Schokoladen in Berlin, and at the Eurosonic Festival in Groningen, Holland. Deep Dark Blue features also some important guests, underlining R.Y.F.’s international relevance: Moor Mother, Alos (aka Stefania Pedretti, formerly OvO and Allun), and as already said Skin, united by feminism and political activism, to get affinities stronger in these hard times of new repression that we are living.
Can I Can U feat. Skin is originally a dance bomb with alt-rock guitars, where the ideals of queer subversion, against homophobia, transphobia and patriarchy, converge in a chorus to memorize and sing along: «Can I? Can U / Be outrageously queer and stand here without any fear?». Can I Can U feat. Skin was born in partnership with Skin herself who, after writing her parts, performed them with her unmistakable voice. Skin needs no introduction. Pioneering singer of the million-selling rock band Skunk Anansie, back this May with their new album The Painful Truth, Skin is simply an icon. As an incendiary performer and role model, she has destroyed stereotypes about race and gender for over twenty-five years. R.Y.F. recalls the genesis of the song: «Can I Can U was born in response to the fear in the air lately. Once again, I felt the need to write a song celebrating love without constraints. The idea that Skin could give voice to this direct but joyful message together with me, struck me from the beginning. Our friendship and mutual respect made this magic happen».
Samantha Togni, an artist whose high-energy performances and distinctive sound have cemented her reputation on the global stage, reveals about the making of the remix of Can I Can U feat. Skin: «I wanted to create something energetic – a remix that could be played in an underground club in the morning hours, while maintaining the epic nature of the original track. I also wanted to keep the lyrics in evidence because the message is very important, especially in the current political context. I imagined the remix not only as a moment of techno peak time but also as a space for reflection, and unity on the dancefloor».
Samantha Togni has captivated audiences at some of the world’s most revered festivals and club institutions, from Boiler Room, and O2 Academy, to upcoming DJ sets at SXSW, and so on. A resident DJ at GEGEN Berlin, Togni has shared the stage with Ellen Allien, and Miss Kittin, among others.
