Chiara Amalia Bernardini and Nicola Mora have been composing music together for many years, during which time their interpersonal and musical relationship has taken various forms, including KICK. Angel Names is the current definition.
Angel Names is also an album, set for release on May 15th via Dischi Sotterranei: with the utmost integrity and clarity of vision, the duo has created their own interpretation of what an alternative rock record should sound like.
After the previous excerpts (Glitter, Soaked in Starlight, Lion on the Door, Sugar Crush and All You Can Eat), today February 17th the brand new single Turn into a Bird is available on all digital platforms.
Turn into a Bird originates in 2017 from a bass and vocals skeleton. It is the first song that Bernardini wrote on bass. The acoustic guitar added by Mora was recorded in a long, stone corridor, amplifying the eerie feeling created by the lyrics. Turn into a Bird tells the story of the Devil in bird shape attempting to deceive a girl to let him into her life.
Produced together with Elmer Hallsby (Isolated Youth, Dead Vibrations), Angel Names was recorded at the Big Tree Studio in Brescia, and then mixed by Martin “Konie” Ehrencrona (formerly of Viagra Boys).
Live, the Italian duo becomes a quintet, with vocals, drums, bass, guitar, and bass VI. Chiara and Nicola have shared the stage with acts such as Elias Rønnenfelt, DAIISTAR, and Molly Nilsson, and have played at major festivals such as Synästhesie (Germany) and Ypsigrock (Italy).
