Angel Names (formerly KICK) drop five new singles, out now on Dischi Sotterranei, taken from their debut album scheduled for release in May 2026

Chiara Amalia Bernardini and Nicola Mora have been composing music together for many years, during which time their interpersonal and musical relationship has taken various forms, including KICK. Angel Names is the current definition.

Angel Names is also an album: with the utmost integrity and clarity of vision, the duo has created their own interpretation of what an alternative rock record should sound like.

The album, from which the first five singles have already been released, will be out in May 2026 via Dischi Sotterranei label.

The most recent single All You Can Eat is about the kind of love that empties you. The love that demands, without giving anything in return. The predominant images are those of a plundered land and a drained ocean. The atmosphere of tension and loss of self is conveyed through a nervous bass line, and the pain turns to anger in the noise guitar solo. The chorus is an opening into consciousness, a glimpse of self-awareness.

Sugar Crush deals with love, control, Candy Crush, and caramel eyes. Nicola Mora’s verses are supported by a nervous bass line, interspersed with flashes of guitar. It all creates a tension that culminates in the chorus sung by Chiara Bernardini, a true outburst that responds to the male voice. This creates a duet that, however, remains confined within the narrator’s mind.

Lion on the Door describes an aspect of the fear of love. The narrator feels they exist only in the light of the other person’s love, but paradoxically they are simultaneously emptied, devoured by it. The narrator does everything they can to be loved, but it’s not enough: this opens up an immense internal conflict. It’s the feeling of inadequacy, and the painful frustration that comes from it, that pervades the song. The narrator admits to having shed their skin to accommodate the needs of their beloved, just to become unrecognizable to them.

Soaked in Starlight is a melancholy song, albeit hopeful, about an imperfect flight. It expresses a longing for the sky, for flight as a source of liberation from earthly constraints. The wings are not made of feathers, but of plastic, wet bandages. The guitars, gloomy and poignant in the choruses, give way to Mora’s voice, which in the verses is naked, yet charged with emotion. Bernardini’s vocals are celestial, the voices of angelic creatures the protagonist encounters during their ascent to heaven.

Glitter is built on an obsessive bass riff, providing context for the sardonic lyrics. It presents a country where control and oppression pale in comparison to the joy of living where the sun always shines.

Produced together with Elmer Hallsby (Isolated Youth, Dead Vibrations), Angel Names was recorded at the Big Tree Studio in Brescia, and then mixed by Martin “Konie” Ehrencrona(formerly of Viagra Boys).

Live, the duo becomes a quintet, with vocals, drums, bass, guitar, and bass VI. Chiara and Nicola have shared the stage with acts such as Elias Rønnenfelt, DAIISTAR, and Molly Nilsson, and have played at major festivals such as Synästhesie (Germany) and Ypsigrock (Italy).
